Art. 1 – LIVORNOCLASSICA music association announces the Third Edition of Livorno Piano Competition, opened to pianists born after 01/01/ 1986
During the same period will also be held the Young Livorno Piano Competition – Premio Enrico Galletta , in which contestants will perform within age categories.
The Competition will take place in Livorno from January 21 to 26, 2019 and will be held in Fondazione Teatro Goldoni.
The competition is opened to pianists of all nationalities.
Art. 2 – Registration for the competition implies unconditional compliance with these rules . Each candidate authorizes the Association LIVORNO CLASSICA by inscription – pursuing art . 97 of the Law on copyright – to make audio – video recordings related to their performance and spread it on any platform or association linked to it ( YouTube channel) and to publish photos in promotional material of the Association or exhibit them at future events . In relation to this , candidates cannot advance any right or financial request towards Livorno Classic .
According to art. 13 and 14 of GDPR – UE 2016/679 with regard to privacy, we inform all data provided at registration will be used only to send communications related to the Contest excluding any other use .
The organization accepts no liability in respect of any injury to persons and / or property of any nature during the course of the entire competition.
All performances are public.
Art. 3 – Livorno Classica reserves the right to make changes or additions to this rules and eventually to cancel one or more categories if the number of contestants will be considered not sufficient.
On the contrary, in case of an excessive number, incompatible with the scheduled audition time during the competition, the Artistic Direction may proceed to a selection based upon the Curriculum Vitae provided by the contestants.
Of course the entire fee will be immediately refunded in case of non-acceptance.
Art. 4 – Competitors must be present at the time scheduled under penalty of exclusion from the competition .
Each contestant will have the opportunity to rehearse on the piano provided for the competition . LivornoClassica will also provide rooms with pianos to practice during the competition.
Art. 5 – Registration is allowed to both Livorno Piano Competition and Young Livorno Piano Competition.
Art. 6 – Travel and accommodation expenses are borne by the competitors. All facilities and agreements with hotels, private apartments and restaurants will be provided and will be available in the INFO section of this website.
Art. 7 – The jury will be composed by eminent musicians. If a juror proves to have a family relationship or has had a permanent teaching relationship three years prior to the competition with one or more candidates she/he will not take part in the discussion nor vote for the competitor/s . Before the beginning of the competition each jury member must sign a statement on his personal situation with competitors.
Art. 8 – On January, 26 the Livorno Piano Competition final round will take place and the Prizegiving ceremony will follow. During the event the absolute winner of Young Livorno Piano Competition- Premio Enrico Galletta will be invited to perform. The program will be decided by the jury.
Art. 9 – Competitors will be heard in alphabetical order starting from the letter drawn a few days after the inscriptions deadline; right after the detailed timetable will be drawn up.
Art. 10 – The jury’s decision is irrevocable . The jury reserves the right to stop the performance or choose to listen to a part of it in case the time limit be exceeded.
LIVORNO PIANO COMPETITION
Art. 11 – Participants born after 01/01/1986 are admitted to the Competition.
Art. 12 – Program. The competition consists of a preliminary round, a semifinal round and a final. Performance from memory is not mandatory .
nb All compositions must be published.
During the final judgment while assigning prizes, the Jury will keep into consideration all three rounds.
Single movements of sonatas will not be accepted, as well as single parts of compositions usually performed as a whole in common performance.
In case of doubt aspiring contestants are invited to contact the Artistic Direction for clarification.
An identification document and a copy of the score for the jury must be provided.
a) Preliminary Round, maximum 15 minutes: free contestant’s choice.
b ) Semifinal Round, maximum 4o minutes: free contestant’s choice including a composition published from 1900 to contemporary repertoire .
c) Final Round : Free choice 25/30 minutes program.
nb It is not possible to repeat compositions already played in previous rounds.

Art. 13 – Categories and Program
Livorno Piano Competition – Young is articulated into the following categories :
Young LPC baby born from 2011 on
program maximum 4 minutes
Young LPC junior born in 2010, 2009
program maximum 6 minutes
Young LPC young talents born in 2008, 2007, 2006
program maximum 8 minutes
Young LPC Premio Galletta cat. A born in 2005, 2004, 2003
program maximum 12 minutes
Young LPC Premio Galletta cat. B born in 2002, 2001, 2000
program maximum 15 minutes
Young LPC Premio Galletta cat. C born in 1 999,1998 , 1997
program maximum 18 minutes
nb Individual movements of Sonata or Suite are accepted. The repertoire choice is free and performance from memory is not required. All composition must be published and easier versions of repertoire pieces are not allowed.
Art.14 Contestants may participate in only one category , even higher if they consider their preparation adequate , but not lower. An identification document and a copy of the score for the jury must be provided.
Inscription will be possible from September, 1 2018 and the deadline will be December, 10 2018
